Fun activities for team members

A good work environment is the base of every successful organization. From providing food and drinks to different means of entertainment, games and fun bonding activities between members can help a lot in making employees happy and therefor increase their performance.

Here are some ideas that in my opinion can help increase bonds between members and make work more fun and enjoyable.

      1. Put a humor section on the bulletin board and invite team members to post things they find funny (keeping good taste in mind, of course). Jokes, drawings or anything they find funny can be posted on the board.

      2. Find out what your team members are good at. If you give them something they actually have passion for and are good at, then they’ll want to grow and develop this skill. So figure out what the true genius zone is for each team member and shift their roles around to unleash their true potential. See it as talent chess.

 3. Let each member write "Quote of the day" on a bulletin board or a simple board or even paper.
4. A different task should be set to one member each day. But this task should include interacting with another member like: Today John should get Mike a cup of coffee, or Ana should shake hands with Sarah. Some stuff like those, could be fun and increase bonds between team members.

5. Advice of the day: Ask each team member to prepare an advice to tell the rest of the team. Each day one member should give a different and a good advice to the rest of the members or a simple tip on how to be happy.

6. Once per week a member should get an extra 30-min. break.

7. One-on-one sessions: Team leader should set for each member a day every week for one-on-one sessions for the member if they want to discuss any personal issues or any problem facing them outside work.

     8. A quick work question sent via e-mail to each member. And the first to answer the question correctly should get a simple prize like chocolate.

9. If possible, a member can bring a homemade dessert or any type of food to enjoy with the rest of the team members.

10. Write different name tags with descriptions on them like "The funny one, the smart one, the naughty one,…etc" and ask every member's opinion on which person they think should get each "nickname" and the most voted nickname for each member should be hanged on their clothes for a whole week.

What happened to simplicity?

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”  - Confucius

Everything used to be simple, simple things made us happy. A simple smile, a simple hello, a simple gift everything was so simple. Now, it's not like that. Everything is much more complicated than it used to be! Emotions are complicated, happiness is complicated, relationships are complicated.

Why is it so hard to just simply tell someone that you miss them and getting actually the chance to see them. Why is it so hard to open up to someone without being afraid of getting hurt. Why did it become so hard to say how you really feel about someone?

I wonder when did life get so complicated. Is it a rule that the older you get, the more complicated things become? Or do we do that to ourselves. Is it the increase of responsibilities that does this to us or we are just programmed to feel this way.

I just wish life is now as simple as it used to be when I was younger. No problems or crowded brains with suffocating thoughts. Sleeping peacefully at night, and waking up with a clear mind in the morning.

I think we all want to live a simpler life but the people around us are not helping. It's either your boss at work or your family at home, your husband, your children, your neighbors. Some people unfortunately complicate our lives unintentionally but they do and sometimes you just can't escape those people or even tell them that they are actually making your life harder. So I guess leading a simple life does not depend on you but on the people around you as well.

Anyhow, I still think that one should do everything possible to keep his life as much simple as possible by trying to do the simple things that used to make him happy over and over again. Reading a good book, drinking a hot cup of coffee, waking up with a big smile in the morning, seeing an old friend, buying yourself a gift every now and then, making someone else happy, playing with your pet, .... etc
These things are simple pleasures that people should always remember to do.
These things make life simpler!
